New Bell & Ross BR-X3 Tourbillon Microrotor
The New Bell & Ross BR-X3 Tourbillon Microrotor
Bell & Ross explores higher altitudes with absolute transparency, showcasing captivating mechanical wonders.
Bell & Ross introduces the new BR-X3 Tourbillon Microrotor watch, marking a shift in the brand’s trajectory towards exploring higher levels of watchmaking experience. This timepiece, inspired by the iconic cockpit design and embodying exquisite craftsmanship and a transparent design philosophy, is at the heart of the brand. Now, the new BR-X3 Tourbillon Microrotor watch places time in a secondary role, allowing the movement to take center stage. The movement of the new BR-X3 Tourbillon Microrotor watch is arranged in a geometric grid of horizontal and vertical lines, with every intricate detail clearly visible.
To understand the origins of the new BR-X3, we only need to recall the launch of the BR-X3 series a few months ago (X stands for Experimental). The BR-X3 marks a more radical and technically advanced chapter for the brand, featuring a more complex display, case structure, and a movement developed in collaboration with Kenissi. The tourbillon and micro-rotor are not entirely new designs; they first appeared on the BR-X2 in 2017. https://www.grand-watch.co
While the case retains Bell & Ross’s signature square design, the case and movement are structurally integrated, forming a seamless whole, similar to the 2018 BR-X2. The 40mm diameter case is only 9mm thick, consisting of a satin-brushed and polished stainless steel middle case, a sapphire crystal glass and case back, and four signature corner screws.
This timepiece lacks a dial, featuring sapphire crystal glass on both the front and back, with transparency at the heart of its design. Every component of the movement, regardless of size, is clearly visible on both sides of the case and suspended beneath a series of horizontal and vertical bridges inspired by the grid patterns of Piet Mondrian. The clean, geometric shape of the bridges creates a sense of spaciousness, perfectly showcasing the BR-CAL.389 automatic movement developed specifically for Bell & Ross.
The dial features a modern, cool gray tone, with 26 pink jewels adorning the brushed bridges, while polished chamfers add a touch of brilliance. The dial displays the hours and minutes only on an off-center smoky gray sapphire crystal disc at 2 o’clock, focusing attention on the movement. Also off-center is the flying tourbillon at 5:30, its frame adorned with the brand’s iconic ‘&’ symbol. Other striking components, such as the micro-rotor at 7:30, are also clearly visible. It is this micro-rotor that enables the ultra-thin 9mm case, powering the skeletonized mainspring barrel at 12 o’clock and ensuring the movement runs for 58 hours. www.grand-watch.co
