The Patek Philippe Calatrava Pilot’s Travel Chronograph 5924G Is More Likeable Than Expected

Close contact with the newly added Patek Philippe Pilot’s Watch can further bring out the glamorous personality and expand its appeal.

It has been eight years since Patek Philippe introduced pilot-style watches. Out of the blue was the Travel Time 5524G, a watch that generated a lot of discussion, mostly because of its controversial looks and deceptive attachment to the Calatrava family. The first reference model, subsequent models, including the now-discontinued 7234 and 2019’s Calatrava Pilot Alarm Travel Time 5520P, still look a bit odd with its four protruding pushers compared to other Calatrava watches. Still, Patek Philippe’s new 2015 The aesthetics, a nod to a historic model from 1936 called the “Hour Angle Dial” (a unique watch with a unique function in which the hour hand travels around the dial once in 24 hours), is here to stay. So you’d better get used to these not quite Patek Philippe – whatever that means – timepieces. The Pilot Style collection expands its range with the recent addition of two Calatrava Pilot Travel Time Chronograph models. We’ve spent enough time with the new Reference 5924G to start getting it, and hopefully you’ll at least agree that these are cool sports watches.

What you see is what you get with the new Calatrava Pilot Travel Time Chronograph 5924G. There are two dials, sunburst blue-gray and lacquered khaki green, with dial elements and straps supporting the base dial color of each style. The 5924G white gold case is 42mm wide and 13.05mm thick, and is water resistant to 30 meters, which isn’t a lot, which means it can withstand splashes of water, but then again, pilots generally avoid landing in water when wearing a gold watch. The size isn’t ideal by modern standards, but the Calatrava Pilot range appeals to more confident, capable wrists. The crown and prominent chronograph pushers at 2 o’clock for start/stop and 4 o’clock for reset/flyback add to the feel of operating a large watch.

On the dial we have four hands to read local time and home time (solid sword-shaped hands for local hours and minutes, hollow hands for home time) and date indication; the flyback chronograph has a central seconds hand, Indicator with 60-minute counter at 6 o’clock. The day and night indications for local time and home time are appropriately marked, the gold numerals with luminescent coating are in line with the rest of the series, and the indices at 6 and 12 are almost completely “eaten” by the superimposed sub-dials – I feel very Sorry about that poor 12.

You must be wondering how to adjust the local time (and date) on this watch as it has the travel time function found in the non-chronograph model 5524, with buttons on the left side of the case for simple settings. For the date, there is a corrector on top of the case, while the very useful left pusher on the 5524 has been replaced with a slightly larger than usual corrector, perhaps to ease their use. But you still need a pen or small tool to operate them. The Calatrava Pilot Alarm Travel Time 5520P has a pair of pushers on each side of the case; perhaps applying the same design to a less complicated watch was considered inelegant by Patek. Still, aside from the inconvenience of travel time adjustments, the new reference with a flyback chronograph looks fairly balanced and promising, eager to satisfy those wishing to own a pilot’s fake watches for sale, with two beneficial (for pilots) features , but Patek Philippe is not ready to solve any problems except Philip.

This pair of Patek Philippe Calatrava Pilot Travel Time Chronograph 5924G relies on the self-winding CH 28-520 C FUS movement with 370 components, first introduced by PP in 2014 as the Nautilus 5990 (40.5 mm case, undisputedly beautiful ) to provide power. The movement can be seen through the sapphire crystal case back; the central gold rotor is engraved with a PP cross, and the movement is beautifully decorated, worthy of the brand. The power reserve is still mentioned as a maximum of 45 to 55 hours, not great, but not disappointing at all – perhaps an inconvenience, but something tells me that Patek Philippe owners have specially trained robots to come at any time Keep the watch wound.

As mentioned, Patek Philippe has launched two new Calatrava Pilot Travel Time Chronograph models, Ref. 5924G-001 with a blue-gray sunburst dial on a grained navy blue calfskin strap, and Ref. 5924G-010 with a khaki The green lacquered dial is paired with an olive green calfskin strap, which has a unique finish and a vintage feel. The strap uses a single prong buckle to secure the watch to the wrist for a better “vintage” experience.

For closing remarks or final thoughts, the Calatrava Pilot Travel Time Chronograph is a high-end timepiece. Being up close can easily change your perception from negative (if) to highly positive. Be prepared to discuss its design, ergonomics, user-friendliness, and even the very small (31mm) movement that fits into a 42mm case. best fake watch site
